Raquy
Danziger
of Brooklyn, NY, brings traditional Middle Eastern music and modern
drumming to a heady peak. She has traveled extensively abroad in the
Middle East, Egypt and India, where she has experienced and absorbed
vast amounts of musical culture. This past Spring, Raquy taught &
performed in Cairo, Egypt for an entire month.
Come experience her 90 min workshops which focus on doumbek technique.
You may bring a different drum but
know the class is orientated toward the doumbek. Often there is a
chance for the class to accompany Raquy while she plays her karmenche,
which is always a real treat!
The beginner class will go over hand technique and easily learned
rhythms. The Intermediate class will explore any number of more advanced
rhythms and techniques. If you are a beginner drummer taking the
intermediate class, be aware the class is for an intermediate level
student and will not slow down for a beginner.
